I want Valkyria Chronicles (2, 3, 4 or whatever) on PS4. I'll pre-order that and pick it up on the first day.

Vaklyria Chronicles along with MGS4 were my best video-gaming experiences this gen.

I've got to agree with Dragon on this one. Mattrick was NOT a gamer.

The only possibilities are

1) Mattrick wasn't a gamer; OR
2) Mattrick was the only gamer on the planet that didn't know the Xbone's original DRM policy was suicide.

Only choice #1 makes sense. Because all other gamers knew better, and said better before Microsoft made their policy official.

Say that there was a businessman inside of...

I don't think the mechanics of SCV were that bad I just think that the character changes were so disturbing that they biased lots of people against the game before they even got started.

Although I will admit that it seems to me the Soul Calibur gets a little worse with each iteration. I missed Soul Edge and Soul Calibur I, but to me it seems that the best one was SC2.

P.S.

I do have to say that the net code as well as the all-around onli...

Hopefully, it a new Soul Calibur game and the "Lost Swords" means that the game is "finding" all the characters the SoulCalibur V "lost".

Like Taki, Sophie, Cassie, Setsuka, and Talim. I really felt bad for people that invested several generations playing with Talim. SCV didn't even have a clone of her character.

I thought removing the old characters for SCV was quite stupid.

There is no "Hopefully time will tell". Time will definitely tell.

Right now is a tough time for her to take over the Xbox though. Don Matrick set the Xbone on a self-destructive path and set almost all of the impartial gaming community against the Xbone and then he got fire...er.., and then he left. But now it is probably too late to significantly change the direction of the Xbone.

This woman will have to ride the Xbone through what is probabl...

It's not a marketing mistake, there just is not way to sell what Microsoft was trying to sell. You can't rent something for the same price that you sell it for; everyone will just choose to buy it, and that is exactly what was happening. Everyone was lining up to buy a PS4 which would allow them to actually own the games.

But Microsoft did not make a mistake of marketing; microsoft had a bad product.

I going to say Destiny as well. That would explain the PS4 love they have been giving and getting.

Personally I think it's going to be tough. In addition to Destiny there's Killzone, Battlefield, Call of Duty all releasing new games at roughly the same time. It's going to be tough for a new shooter IP to sell 10 million units, even across two platforms, while going against all of that.

Is Destiny releasing on PS3 and Xbox 360?

That's not right on two counts.

1) Lots of gamers who did all of their gaming on the Xbox platform were not going to Xbone because of the DRM. I know several of them personally. Microsoft's DRM chased people who had never owned a Playstation away from the Xbone and over to the PS4.

2) Rolling back the DRM did not set gaming back at all.

People assume that disc-based & and other physical media for games is going out. I don't think so for consoles at least.

Video game file sizes keep getting larger and larger, and there is only so much bandwidth to go around. The 360 held game sizes back this generation. The Xbone will have a Blu-ray. I would not be surprised to see video games weigh-in at 50-60GB this generation. Downloading a game that size is going to take a lot of time even if your bandwidth c...

@iamnsuperman

No way in hell does DRM need to happen. It wouldn't work in consoles anyway.

@mewhy32

Damn right! If I buy it, I own it, I control it, I decide what to do with it. If I want to use it as a coaster I will do that. If I want to swap games with you for no money, then I will do that, but only if you want to swap your game that you paid for...and control.

Most often the original voice acting is better than the voice acting in the ports. It's like DigitalRaptor said. You can hear the sub-par acting. By contrast, if you listen to the original voice acting and read the subtitles in your native language, you can hear the emotion in the characters voices even though you don't understand the language. By the time, you are one hour into the game you won't even notice that the game is speaking Japanese or whatev...

I wouldn't say that he has to be N4G hard-core, but it should be some one that is intimate with the gaming market.

The crap that Don Matrick tried to pull never even sounded like something that could work.

Whoever came up with the original Xbone strategy clearly did not understand his customer at all.

Final Fantasy 13 downgraded once it became multi-plat. There were all sorts of comparison write ups over that.

The $100 cheaper price is also going to be key.

"Microsoft is hitting more home with it only does everything"

"It only doesn't everything" was a PS3 marketing slogan.

Microsoft missed the mark badly with the Xbone. At E3 they had worse specs, a smaller first and second party game-making infrastucture, DRM, and a higher price. They have reversed the DRM with a software patch at least. (BTW, they will have to package in the box.) But they are still charging $100 more for worse spec...

Somebody help a layperson out.

I thought that with consoles the individual game developers are free to code directly to the hardware even in binary if they want to.

Wouldn't they all be free to write their own drivers for their particular games?

Where would these "superior drivers" that Carmack is talking about come from? Would they come from the hardware maker, like Intel, Nvidia, and AMD, or is there sort of a middle-ware ...

They are probably going to sell them in the store for about $150 - $200. Their price will instantly give the internet another target to use against the Xbone and the rage to fuel lots of attacks against said target.

The fact that Microsoft are not readily forthcoming with the prices tells me that they are hiding something.

Donkey Kong is the first appearance of Mario. Anyone who thought that Microsoft could possibly have bought it should not be working in the Xbox division of Microsoft.
